Box Score

Sophomore Laura Ambron (Fishkill, N.Y.) gave the Oswego State women's soccer team an early lead, but St. Lawrence responded with four goals to defeat the Lakers 4-1 on Wednesday in Canton, N.Y.

Ambron opened the scoring for Oswego when she headed a pass from Alexa Krebs (So., Massapequa, N.Y.) for her fourth goal of the year at the 4:41 mark. However, the Saints answered with three goals in a 12-minute span midway through the first half to take control.

St. Lawrence's Kristina Peso tied the score, heading in a pass by Becca Townsend in the 25th minute.  Stephanie Sayward gave the Saints the lead when she beat Oswego goalkeeper Christina Fregosi (Fr., Massapequa, N.Y.) to a ball, chipping it over her into the net at 27:38.  Before the end of the half, Elizabeth Lucas split the defense at the top of the box before placing a shot in the far corner of the net in the 36th minute.  The final St. Lawrence goal came in the 61st minute when Townsend converted a penalty kick.

Fregosi and Holly Lyndaker (Sr., Copenhagen, N.Y.), who played the final 20 minutes, each came up with some one-on-one saves in the second half to keep it a three-goal game. Fregosi finished with six saves in 70 minutes for the Lakers, while Lyndaker stopped five shots. Abby van Geldern made three saves for the Saints.

Oswego State, which moved to 3-2-0 overall, starts SUNYAC play on Saturday at Cortland for a 5 p.m. start.
