The Laker volleyball team struggled in the first round of SUNYAC Pool Play at Brockport as it lost all four matches this weekend. Oswego State, which is now 4-13 this season, fell to Brockport, Fredonia, Buffalo State, and Geneseo by identical 3-0 scores.
In the first match of the day on Friday, the Lakers lost to Brockport 25-12, 25-16, 25-18. Sophomore outside hitter Jess Isgro (Brockport, N.Y.) paced the offensive attack with 10 kills to go along with two service aces.
Freshman Chelsea Crump (Sandy Creek, N.Y.) had a good match at the net as she recorded four solo blocks and two block assists in the match.
Friday's nightcap produced similar results as Fredonia defeated Oswego State 25-9, 25-23, 25-20. Isgro led the way again with eight kills, while Shauna Westrack (Fr., Nesconset, N.Y.) added four service aces, Morgan Grimes (Fr., Cambridge, N.Y.) had four block assists, and Kelsey Ihle (Fr., Clarence Center, N.Y.) contributed eight digs.
On Saturday, Buffalo State handed the Lakers a 25-14, 25-17, 25-21 loss. Westrack tallied eight digs to lead the defensive efforts, as Isgro headed the offense with six kills. The final match of the weekend yielded a straight set 25-16, 25-4, 25-22 loss to Geneseo. Senior Alyssa Brock (Pine Bush, N.Y.) had a strong match at the net with five kills, five block assists, and two solo blocks. Crump posted solid blocking numbers as well as she put away four block assists and three solo blocks. From the back row, Ihle amassed 13 digs.
Liz Crouch (Jr., Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) accumulated 45 total assists in all four matches, while adding 11 digs against Geneseo.
Oswego travels to Rochester on Wednesday, Sep. 29 to face St. John Fisher at 7 p.m.
