Freshman Michelle Bateman (Fulton, N.Y.) extended her goal-scoring streak to three games as she recorded two first half goals to lift the Oswego State women's soccer team over visiting SUNYIT 2-1 on Saturday. The Lakers outshot the Wildcats by a 21-6 margin, but few landed on target as SUNYIT goalkeeper Halie Tyler made six saves. Christina Fregosi (Fr., Massapequa, N.Y.) posted three saves for Oswego, as it remained undefeated at 3-0.

Bateman put the Lakers on the scoreboard early with 2:04 elapsed in the first half as she tallied her fifth goal of the season after receiving a pass from Lindsey Forte (So., Marietta, N.Y.).  Kassie Kleine (Fr., Cazenovia, N.Y.) fed Bateman for her second goal of the contest midway through the half at 23:50, as Oswego went into halftime with a 2-0 edge.  SUNYIT cut the deficit in half in the early stages of the second half when Jane Burroughs scored at the 56:42 mark on a free kick.

However, that was as close as the Wildcats would get as Laker head coach Brian McGrane's group controlled ball possession for the duration of the contest.

Oswego State will put its unbeaten streak on the line against 2008 NCAA qualifier Hamilton University next Saturday at 1 p.m. in Oswego.
