The Oswego State volleyball team defeated Morrisville, 3-0, and Medaille, 3-1, to move into the Gold Division of the Oswego State Invitational Friday at Max Ziel Gymnasium.  The Lakers knocked off the Mustangs by the scores of 25-17, 25-22, 25-19, and outlasted the Mavericks 25-15, 25-20, 20-25, 25-19 to be one of two unbeaten squads heading in the championship pool play.  The victories pushed Oswego State to 8-14 on the season.

In the day's first match, outside hitter Katie van Kessel turned in a double-double on 13 kills and 14 digs to go along with three service aces.  She was the only Laker to reach double-figure kills as Courtney Price and Sabrina Sutton were next in line with six kills apiece.  Libero Kelsey Ihle posted a well-rounded performance as she tallied 14 digs and six service aces.

The nightcap saw head coach Pat Hanlon's team produce an all-around effort resulting in the four-set victory over Medaille.  No Oswego State hitter finished with more than nine kills, but Stephany Olsheski did a nice job distributing the ball as she tallied 26 assists.  At the net, Morgan Grimes and van Kessel registered five block assists.  van Kessel and Ihle compiled 12 and 10 digs, respectively, to frustrate the Maverick hitters.

The Lakers will face the other unbeaten team in the tournament, SUNYIT, Saturday at 10 a.m. followed by a re-match against Medaille at noon.
