A first half goal by junior
Bryan Pacchiana put the Oswego State men's soccer team ahead early, but the Cortland Red Dragons tallied three second half goals to capture a 3-1 victory in Cortland on Saturday evening. The loss dropped the Lakers to 1-5-1 on the season and 0-1-0 in conference play. Cortland improved to 3-3-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the SUNYAC.
Cortland committed a foul inside its own box, giving Oswego State a chance at a penalty kick. Pacchiana would not squander the chance, putting the ball in the lower left corner to give the Lakers a one-goal lead. The goal was only the third for the Lakers in seven games, two of which were scored by Pacchiana.
Oswego State took the lead into halftime as it outshot its opponents 10-5. The second half was a different story, however, as the Red Dragons had 11 shots to only seven for the Lakers. Cortland also garnered four corner kick opportunities, while Oswego State had none in the period.
Cortland's first goal came in the 53rd minute as Patrick Meany nailed a 25-yard free kick just inside the left post, knotting up the game at one. About 13 minutes later, the Red Dragons struck again when Lukas Wear deflected in a corner kick at the top of the box. Brendan Wells was credited with the assist.
The Lakers pressed the issue to try to tie the game and they were caught out of position. Andrew Schwert finished a breakaway chance by slipping the ball inside the left post in the 89th minute to end Oswego State's comeback hopes. E.J. Reutemann was given an assist on the play. It was the first goal of the season for all three Cortland goal scorers.

Marcus LaRobardiere finished the game with four saves in the loss. Red Dragon netminder Patrick Pidgeon recorded three saves in the contest.
The Lakers have a week off before they play Morrisville State at Laker Field on Saturday.
