It was déjà vu for the Oswego State volleyball team as it suffered 3-1 and 3-0 losses on the final day of the first round of SUNYAC Pool Play Saturday at Geneseo. The Lakers lost to Brockport, 3-1 (
17-25, 25-21, 25-27, 20-25), and Geneseo, 3-0 (13-25, 20-25, 15-25). Oswego State, which fell to 5-13 overall and 0-4 in the league, will host the second round of conference pool play on October 22-23 at Max Ziel Gymnasium.
In the first match of the day against Brockport, the Lakers received double-doubles from
Jess Isgro and
Katie van Kessel. Isgro compiled 11 kills and 10 digs, while
Katie van Kessel added 10 kills and 12 digs. In the middle,
Chelsea Crump compiled eight kills.
Stephany Olsheski dished out 33 assists in the nail-biter.
Against the host Blue Knights, van Kessel paced Oswego State with seven kills and seven digs followed by five kills from
Sabrina Sutton. Olsheski finished with eight assists, while
Brittany Jones came into the match to record nine assists.
