Box Score
Nikki Liadka scored two goals Tuesday afternoon as the Oswego State women's soccer team defeated non-conference foe SUNYIT on the road 3-0. The Lakers dictated the tempo from the start, as they scored just under ten minutes into the game. Oswego State improved to 5-3 on the season, while SUNYIT dropped to 7-3.
In the tenth minute, midfielder
Toby Klein fed a cross to Liadka at the top of the box, who finished past Wildcat goalkeeper Aubrey Campbell. Oswego State continued to apply relentless pressure on Campbell, as it outshot SUNYIT, 9-2, in the first half. Twelve minutes later the one-two combination of Klein and Liadka struck again. Klein dribbled the ball down the left wing, hitting a cutting Liadka, who struck a ball into the back of the net for a 2-0 Laker lead, which they took into intermission.
Oswego State continued to bear down on the Wildcat defense in the second half, as it controlled the play. The Lakers equaled their first half total of shots with nine in the second half, while not allowing a single SUNYIT shot attempt.
Lindsey Forte added an insurance goal in the 67th minute with a missile past Campbell from the far right wing. Campbell finished with eight saves in net for SUNYIT. Margaret Werenczak finished up the final five minutes for the Wildcats, while making two saves.
Christina Fregosi stopped both shots she faced while recording her first shutout of the season for the Lakers.
Oswego State continues its road trip Friday and Saturday as it takes on Plattsburgh and Potsdam, respectively. Friday's game with rival Plattsburgh is slated for a 4 p.m. kickoff, while Saturday's contest with Potsdam begins at 1 p.m.
