The Oswego State volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to City College of New York (CCNY) and RIT at the first day of the Hartwick Invitational in Oneonta on Saturday.  The Lakers fell to CCNY 3-0 by the scores of 22-25, 23-25, 23-25 and RIT 3-0 by the scores of 20-25, 21-25, 12-25.  Oswego State, which moved to 0-2 overall, returns to the court on Sunday against host Hartwick and Kean.

In the first match of the season against CCNY, outside hitter Jess Isgro (Jr., Brockport, N.Y.) paced the offense with eight kills followed by Sabrina Sutton (Fr., Fulton, N.Y.) and Kelsey Lewis (Jr., Apalachin, N.Y.) with five kills each.  Stephany Olsheski (So., Brockport, N.Y.) recorded a double-double with 21 assists and 11 digs, while Liz Crouch (Sr., Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) led the defense with 18 digs.  Morgan Grimes (Jr., Cambridge, N.Y.) and Lewis helped provide a presence at the net with three blocks apiece.

Junior outside hitter Katie van Kessel (Millbrook, N.Y.) was the top performer for the Lakers against the Tigers with six kills and 11 digs.  Isgro also added five kills as Olsheski contributed 15 assists.  Crouch tallied 12 digs, while Grimes and Sutton posted one block each.
