The Oswego State wrestling team suffered a 24-18 loss to 15th-ranked College of New Jersey (TCNJ), but bounced back for a 21-15 win over Rhode Island during the first day of the Budd Whitehill Duals hosted by Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pa. on Friday. The Lakers, who moved to 3-3 in dual competition, will face Lycoming at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Cameron Mills, and
Joe Pesce were undefeated on the day in their respective weight classes. At 157 pounds, Rodgers edged KC Murphy of TCNJ, 3-2, and followed that result with a 13-8 win over Rhode Island's Ryan Rhedme. Mills, the ninth-ranked grappler in Division III at 174 pounds, controlled his match versus Mike Keily (TCNJ) in an 8-1 decision, and continued to wrestle well as he pinned John Gaulding in 1:24. In the heavyweight class, Pesce benefitted from a forfeit versus TCNJ, but then defeated Devin Callahan, 8-1.
