The Oswego State wrestling team posted an eighth-place finish on the final day of the Budd Whitehill Duals by posting a 1-2 record.  The Lakers avenged a previous loss to Lycoming with a tight 19-17 win before suffering close losses to York (PA), 22-20, and University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, 21-17.  The tournament consisted 20 teams from around Division III and was hosted by Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pa.  Oswego State now stands at 4-5 in dual competition this season.

In the first match of the day, Oswego State started strong with wins in the first three bouts by Michael Gentilcore, Scott McGregor, and Chris Payne to take a 10-0 lead.  The Warriors got on the scoreboard at 149 pounds with a major decision, but the Lakers responded by winning the next three matches to make the score 19-4 with three weight classes remaining.  Each of the points earned by Nick Rodgers, Marc Collins, and Cameron Mills during their matches were needed as Lycoming stormed back to win the final weight classes, including a pin and a major decision.  However, it would not be enough as Oswego State came away with the victory.

The Lakers closed out the day with a pair of losses to two nationally-ranked opponents in York (PA) and UW-Whitewater.  Three wrestlers, Michael Gentilcore, Marc Collins, and Cameron Mills, registered wins in both matches.  At 125 pounds, Gentilcore recorded a pin in 6:05 against York's Jerrid Hartman and earned a technical fall versus UW-Whitewater's Matt Oliva in 5:06.  Collins posted two close wins by the scores of 4-3 and 5-3 at 165 pounds.  Mills finished the weekend undefeated at 174 pounds after tallying pins in 39 seconds against Vinnie Biakini of York and 1:10 against Reid Dickerson of UW-Whitewater.
