The Oswego State women's tennis team lost a 9-0 decision to New Paltz in the quarterfinal round of the 2011 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Tennis Championship Tournament Friday evening at Eastside Racquet Club in Manlius. The Lakers, who hold the West Division's No. 4 seed, fall to 1-11 overall, while the East Division's top seed, New Paltz, pushed its record to 7-1. Oswego State plays Brockport tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. in the consolation bracket.

This year's SUNYAC Tournament features a team playoff format, which differs from its usual flighted singles and doubles format. All matches during the tournament count toward dual-match records, and the event runs from Friday, Oct. 7, through Sunday, Oct. 9.

Emma Baker (So., Walworth, N.Y.) provided the biggest challenge to the defending conference champions, taking five service games from Alli Esposito at flight three singles in a 6-2, 6-3 loss.

New Paltz moves on to the semifinals, facing Oneonta, the East Division's No. 3 seed.
