An ailing Oswego State wrestling team was forced to forfeit four matches from the beginning, and was never able to recover against 20th-ranked Cortland in a 45-0 loss on Wednesday night in Cortland. The Red Dragons improved to 14-4-1 in dual competition, while the Lakers fell to 5-8 on the season.
In the night's tightest bout,
Marc Collins trailed Jonathan Conroy 5-2 heading into the third period at 165 pounds. Collins selected a netural start, and recorded a takedown in the first minute. Conroy escaped from Collins' hold, but Collins registered another takedown with Conroy following up with another escape. Collins received a penalty point before the final horn sounded to tie the match at 7-7. However, Conroy earned the riding time point for an 8-7 win.
The Lakers look to bounce back at the Ursinus College Triangular, where Oswego State will also face NYU, on Saturday starting at 11 a.m.
