ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Oswego State wrestling team posted three individual match wins in a 25-9 loss at Oneonta (6-8) Saturday afternoon. The Lakers (2-9) recorded decisions at 141, 184, and 285 pounds to account for all nine points.
Oswego State saw itself trailing 7-0 heading into 141 pounds after Carlos Soto defeated
Kevin Ramkishun (Fr., Queens, N.Y.), 18-7 in a major decision, at 125 pounds and Benjamin Mikac held off
Omar Santiago (Jr., Huntington, N.Y.) at 133 pounds in a 3-1 decision.
Brad Mayville (Fr., Ontario, N.Y.) posted the Lakers' first win of the match at 141 pounds by defeating Brian Barry, 4-0. Mayville registered a takedown in the first period for two points, and picked up another point at the start of the third period when he escaped from the bottom position. His final point of the bout was due to riding time.
At 149 pounds,
Michael Gentilcore (So., Rochester, N.Y.) dropped his match to Joseph Hauser, 8-3, followed by
Justin Patus' (So., Sachem, N.Y.) 5-2 loss at 157 pounds to Daniel Graff.
Eric Anderson (Fr., Wantagh, N.Y.) suffered a narrow 5-4 defeat to Frankie Provenzano at 165 pounds. Provenzano started the bout with a takedown, but Anderson managed to escape before the end of the first period. Anderson selected the bottom to start the second period, and posted another escape to even the score at 2-2. However, Provenzano had a second takedown followed by a third Anderson escape to bring the score to 4-3 with one period remaining. Each grappler picked up a point in the third to make the final tally 5-4 in Provenzano's favor.

Scott Bova (Fr., Poughquay, N.Y.) a 7-3 loss at 174 pounds to give Oneonta a 19-3 lead heading into the final three matches.
Cameron Mills (Sr., Fulton, N.Y.) fell just short of registering a major decision at 184 pounds, as he defeated Stephen Provenzano, 11-5. It was an active first period as Mills tallied three takedowns and an escape, while Provenzano managed two escapes and a takedown to give Mills a 7-4 advantage heading into the second period. Provenzano gained the only point of the second period with another escape, but Mills turned in an escape and a takedown in the third period to go along with riding time to close out the match.
Jacob Smith added a pin over
Joe Friedel (Fr., West Shoken, N.Y.) in 5:48 at 197 pounds to bring the score to 25-6.
Kyle Sheridan (Jr., Syracuse, N.Y.) closed out the dual meet at 285 pounds with a 3-2 win over Vincent Barber. Barber had an early takedown, but Sheridan posted the come-from-behind victory.
Oswego State competes in its final home meet of the season on Wednesday, Feb. 8 against Cortland at 7 p.m.
