GENESEO, N.Y. – The Oswego State volleyball team (7-8, 1-2 SUNYAC) swept Brockport, 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-13), in its final game of SUNYAC Pool Play to give the Lakers their first league win since 2008. Earlier in the day, Oswego State was swept by Buffalo State, 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-12).
Against the Bengals,
Sabrina Sutton (Jr., Fulton, N.Y.) put away six kills, while
Brittany Jones (Sr., Lake George, N.Y.) finished with eight assists and tied for the team high in digs at seven with libero
Kelsey Ihle (Sr., Clarence Center, N.Y.).
The Lakers bounced back in the next game, as
Stephanie Bailey (So., Scotia, N.Y.) and
Chelsea Crump (Sr., Sandy Creek, N.Y.) registered ten and nine kills, respectively, to pace the offense. Four players also finished with double-digit digs with Ihle's 15 leading the way.
Emily Walser (Fr., Baldwinsville, N.Y.) tallied 12 digs followed by
Meaghan Puff's (Jr., Newfane, N.Y.) 11 digs.
Kara Michelsen (So., Lake View, N.Y.) posted a double-double with 24 assists and 10 digs.
Oswego State, which has already matched last season's win total, has the week off until it faces SUNY Canton and Morrisville next Saturday.
