Rochester, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's tennis team won 6-3 against St. John Fisher College on Wednesday night at Mendon Racquet Club. With the win, Oswego improves to 2-4 on the year while Fisher falls to 2-5.
The Lakers dominated the Cardinals in singles play, winning five of the six matches.
Nicole Leader (7-5, 6-4),
Hannah Rawlings (6-4, 6-1) and
Leslie Usherwood (6-2, 6-3) all defeated their opponents in straight sets.
Jessie Flaim had to work for her singles victory after dropping the first set 6-4. She fought back taking a close 7-5 second set before clinching the win with a 6-3 advantage in the decisive set.
Haley Miller also came back from a one set deficit, taking the final two sets 6-1, 6-4.
Miller and
Kelsey Wilson paired to get Oswego's point in doubles play, taking down Fisher 8-6.
The Lakers will return to action at 4 p.m. on Friday when they return to SUNYAC play with a match against SUNY Fredonia.
