OSWEGO, N.Y. - Oswego State women's tennis fell to Plattsburgh 5-4 at home on Saturday afternoon. The loss came on Senior Day and brought the team's record to 4-7 overall.
Saturday began well, as the squad won two out of the three doubles matches. At first doubles,
Haley Miller and
Jill Travis defeated their Cardinal opponents 8-6 as senior
Kelsey Wilson and
Alli Ullrich combined for an 8-5 win in the third slot. The Lakers second doubles team, consisting of
Olivia Knierman and
Alicia Kreamer, was barely edged in a tiebreaker 9-8 (7-4).
In singles,
Marie Halpin had to battle in her first set to a 7-6 victory before cruising to a 6-2 win in the second. The trijmph in the fifth spot improves her win streak to three-straight matches. Collecting the Lakers final point was Travis at fourth singles, who defeated Plattsburgh's Shari Forman 6-0, 6-3.
The team will be back on the Romney Tennis Courts at 12 p.m. on Sunday when they face Alfred Unviersity.
