BOX SCOREOSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's tennis team fell 7-2 to Alfred University on Sunday afternoon at the Romney Tennis Courts. With the loss, the Lakers fall to 4-8 on the year while the Saxons go to 7-5.
Every player captured at least one game in each set for the Lakers on the day, with
Lauren Stall and
Marie Halpin battling for the two points. Stall and Halpin capitalized on a day when they were honored pre-match as seniors for the Lakers.
Stall downed her Saxon counterpart rather easily, 6-2, 6-4, at first singles. Halpin matched her classmate, beating her opponent by the same margin in the fifth slot.
Each of the Oswego doubles' teams collected at least four games in their matches but were unable to upend Alfred on that side.
The Lakers will be off to the SUNYAC Championship next after taking the No. 3 seed in the west division. They will face No. 2 Cortland at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Fredonia will host the outing at the Binghamton Tennis Center.
