OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State volleyball team downed SUNYIT 3-0 on senior day in the Max Ziel Gymnasium this afternoon. The win concludes the Lakers regular season, giving it a 19-14 record. SUNYIT falls to 16-18 with one game left in its regular season.
The Lakers took their time getting into the first game trailing 9-1 early, but
Jessica Long righted the ship when she served nine-straight times to help Oswego regain the lead 13-11.
Kelsey Dillon paced the team with four kills and helped secure the 25-19 first set win.
In the next two sets, the Lakers continued to show grit, edging the Wildcats 26-24 in the second set and 25-17 in the third.
Hannah Dahlgren and
Stephanie Bailey put an exclamation point on their final regular seasons, leading the team in kills with seven. Dillon also was able to nab seven and
Lindsey Champitto tacked on five.
Olivia Zimmerman and
Lauren Edwards split the setting duties, grabbing 15 and 13 assists, respectively.
On the defensive side of the net, Dahlgren picked up three total blocks, including two block assists, which pushes her up to third on the individual single season records list.
Volleyball will be back in action at 6 p.m. on Friday to start its SUNYAC run. The team will travel to New Paltz to take on No. 4 Brockport.
