Men's Soccer Plays to Scoreless Double-OT Tie

BOX SCORE

UTICA, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's soccer team took a 0-0 tie after 120 minutes through regulation and two overtimes at Utica College on Saturday night. With the stalemate, the Lakers go to 1-4-1 on the year while the Pioneers move to 2-1-2.

Oswego and Utica played even during the entire contest, as both took three shots in the first half and added another seven in the rest of regulation and double overtime. Although the Lakers and Pioneers took 10 shots apiece, Oswego held a slight advantage with shots-on-goal (6-4).

The final 10 minutes of the second stanza were action packed, as Oswego got off three great opportunities. Brody Magro earned two chances less than 10 seconds apart, each hitting the post. A few minutes later, senior captain Michael Fuss pressured the goalie with a shot but Utica's keeper made the save at 88:26.

Mitch Brickman was the only player to take a shot in either overtime but it sailed just wide.

Todd Lawson made four saves in net for the Lakers on his way to earning the shutout, his first of the season.

Oswego will return to the pitch at 4 p.m. on Wednesday when it hosts Wells College at Laker Soccer Field.
