BOX SCOREOSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's tennis team fell 7-2 to visiting Cortland at the Romney Tennis Courts on Thursday afternoon. Cortland improves to 3-3 overall while the Lakers are now 2-4.
Oswego's points came in singles action as
Jill Travis nabbed a tally with a 7-6, 6-3 win in the fifth slot. Travis battled through a close first set, earning the tiebreak 10-5 to edge out her opponent. At sixth singles,
Marie Halpin fended off her Red Dragon counterpart for a 7-5 triumph in the first set before cruising 6-2 in the second set.
Senior
Lauren Stall competed well in the No. 1-spot, grabbing the first set 6-3. Stall was downed in the second set 6-1 and was unable to capture the decisive set, 10-5.
Travis and
Haley Miller teamed at second doubles and made a valiant effort, collecting four games before bowing out 8-4.
Oswego will continue SUNYAC play in its next match that begins at 4 p.m. on Friday at Oneonta.
