OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's soccer team played its first conference game of the season against Oneonta on Friday afternoon at Laker Soccer Field. After a scoreless 0-0 double overtime tie, Oswego moves to 3-4-1 overall and 0-0-1 in the SUNYAC while Oneonta goes to 2-4-2, 0-0-1.
Despite the scoreless match, both teams played physical with the Red Dragons being the more caught offender, collecting 24 fouls while the Lakers were only nabbed six times.
The physical play didn't stop Oswego goalie
Alyssa Glasshagel from having an impressive outing between the pipes, however. Glasshagel played all 110 minutes for the Lakers and recorded a game-high seven saves.
Oswego came close to scoring a goal in the first half when senior
Georgia Traynor shot a corner kick to teammate
Alexa Restante, who then attempted a header at the goal. The ball was wrapped up quickly by Oneonta's goalie Kelly Murphy.
Oswego and the Red Dragons were nearly even in shots-on-goal as the Lakers recorded one less than their opponent (7-6). Those shots-on-goal were spread evenly through the Oswego roster as Traynor, Restante,
Emma Geyer,
Tia Segretto and
Nicole Perniciaro each has one.
The Lakers will continue SUNYAC play when they host New Paltz at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
