FREDONIA, N.Y. – Oswego State women's tennis took home a big victory as they beat Fredonia 8-1. The win pushes the team's record to 4-6 on the season and also is its first conference win.
The Lakers started the day quick, winning all three of their doubles matches.
Lauren Stall and
Alicia Kreamer cruised to victory, winning 8-0 over the Blue Devils. The other doubles teams followed suit, as second (
Haley Miller/
Jill Travis) and third (
Kelsey Wilson/
Alli Ullrich) each won 8-4.
Wins kept coming as the team began its singles matches.
Miller (6-1, 6-1), at fourth singles, and Marie Halpin (6-2, 6-2), at sixth, both increased their winning streaks to two-straight matches. Kreamer did the same in the second spot, defeating her Blue Devil counterpart 6-4, 4-6, 10-8. At fifth singles,
Jill Travis made things look easy by putting away her opponent 6-0, 6-0.
The team will be home for its next match at 12 p.m. on Saturday against the Cardinals of Plattsburgh.
