OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State wrestling team fell 42-9 to visiting Oneonta on Saturday afternoon in Max Ziel Gymnasium. Oneonta's victory pushes its record to 5-5 while the Lakers drop to 2-8.
Kevin Ramkishun seemed to get Oswego off to good start at 125, holding a late lead that was undone by a Red Dragons takedown and a point for riding time, ending in a 5-3 Oneonta decision.
Mark Milisci got Oswego on the board first at 149, equalizing an early Oneonta takedown with a reversal in the first period. After his counterpart chose to defer the first choice, Milisci selected bottom to start the second period. The sophomore again reversed his opponent, making the score 4-2, which would hold through the third period for the win.
The 157-pound
Tyler Silverthorn made it back-to-back victories for the Lakers, not allowing his Oneonta foe out of the first period, pinning Dakota Inman at 2:47. That fall added six team points to Milisci's three, rounding out the Oswego scoring on the day.
Oswego will continue its season with another home meet at 1 p.m. on Saturday when Rochester Institute of Technology comes to campus for a dual.
