OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's ice hockey team completes the home-series sweep of Buffalo State, defeating them 8-1 Saturday afternoon in the Marano Campus Center. With the win, Oswego improves to 13-4-1 on the season and 9-3-1 in the ECAC West. Buffalo State moves to 9-8-1 overall, 7-5-0 in conference play.
With seven different players scoring during the game for Oswego, it was safe to say that offense was the team's forte.
Sarah Grupp got the ball rolling as she capitalized on a power play at the 11:54 mark of the first period. The freshman received a pass in front of the net from
Olivia Ellis and was able to jam it past the Bengal goalie. The goal sparked the team as it netted three more in the first.
Laura Thacker was the next to earn get on the board, taking a pass from
Erika Truschke and banking her goal in off a Buff State skate with 13:45 gone in the period. Exactly one minute later
Brianna Rice notched her seventh goal of the season, receiving a pass from
Alexa Aramburu in the high slot and ripping a slapper into the goal. Rice then assisted on a
Lizzy Marks goal with 3:17 left in the first and the Lakers took it's four goal lead into the first intermission.
The Lakers didn't take their foot off of the pedal, as put in two more in each of the next two periods. With an assist already in her pocket, Truschke racked up two goals in the second stanza. Her first came as she ushered the puck in after
Ashley Lyman nearly beat the goalie at the 18:46 mark. The sophomore's second goal was again assisted by Lyman as they converted a two-on-one with 2:15 remaining in the second.
With a 6-0 lead going into the third, the Lakers continued to keep the offense flowing. This time it was
Alli Ullrich, who snuck in from the blue line and wristed shot over a screened Buff State goaltender's.
Andrea Noss was then able to put the punctuation mark on the game, netting her goal with 1:54 left in regulation, with assists from Ullrich and Ellis.
At the conclusion of the game, 11 players on the Lakers bench recorded at least a point, with five point games coming from Ullrich and Marks and four point games from Truschke and Aramburu.

Bridget Smith was there to provide the defense for Oswego. The senior racked up 28 saves, only allowing a single goal.
Women's ice hockey will be back in action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, when it takes on Utica in a make-up game on the road.
