OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State wrestling team lost a 37-9 dual to visiting Rochester Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon in Max Ziel Gymnasium. With the loss, the Lakers drop to 2-9 on the year while the Tigers go to 6-9.
Tyler Silverthorn earned three team points at 157, defeating Wonsik Kim 6-2. After falling down 2-0 early in the first period, the freshman escaped for a point and then took down Kim for another two tallies. Later in the bout, Silverthorn chose bottom to start the second period and quickly escaped to make it 4-2. After two stalls on Kim, the referee awarded Silverthorn a point. At the end of the match, Silverthorn received another point for riding time, arriving at the 6-2 final decision.
Jacob Yankloski nabbed the Lakers' other six points in a forfeit.
Oswego will return to the mat at 7 p.m. on Wednesday when it hosts Alfred State College on Senior night.
