Lakers Take Conference Loss at Home

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of conference-foe Brockport at Laker Turf Stadium on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Lakers fall to 4-9-1 overall, 1-7 SUNYAC while Brockport improved to 10-2-2, 4-1-2.

The first half of the game was a defensive battle between the two teams, who combined for just five shots on goal. Connor Lunduski had a good look at the goal less than two minutes into the game, but his shot was saved by the Brockport keeper. Much of the remainder of the half was played near midfield, leaving the teams at a scoreless tie at the half.

Peter DiLorenzo got Brockport on the board in the 59th minute when he headed the ball past the keeper off a corner kick from Colin Goettel. Just over five minutes later, DiLorenzo scored off another pass from Goettel, giving Brockport a 2-0 lead.

The Lakers played a man down for the final 23:08, after Paul Kwoyelo was issued a red card when he tackled a Brockport player from behind on a breakaway. The
Golden Eagles took advantage of their man advantage in the 72nd minute when Quintin Volpe notched an unassisted goal.

Todd Lawson had seven saves on the day for Oswego, increasing his season total to 83.

The squad will be back on the field at 1 p.m. next Saturday when it host Cortland on Senior Day.
