Men's Ice Hockey Opens Season with 3-3 Draw

GENESEO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's hockey team played Geneseo to a 3-3 draw Friday night on the road. With the tie, both teams go to 0-0-1 overall and the same in the SUNYAC.

Joey Davies got the Lakers ahead in a hurry, earning his first career point as a Laker just 2:26 into the game. JJ Hart recorded the assist that lead to the opportunity.
The Lakers secured a power play roughly a minute afterwards, applying full pressure to the Knights. Geneseo was able to answer though, notching a shorthanded goal just 58 seconds after the Lakers scored theirs.

The Knights would get the scoring in the second, cashing in two before the ten minute mark but Oswego didn't let the lead extend any further. Kenny Neil received a pass from Sean Federow and beat the tendy with 7:39 to go in the period. The Lakaers would go into the intermission down 3-2.

As the third period wound down, Oswego continued to pepper the Geneseo goaltender. Shawn Hulshof finally found a way past him tying it up with 3:11 remaining in regulation. The game would go on to overtime where the teams would play to a 3-3 final after the five minutes completed.

Men's ice hockey returns home on Saturday as it hosts conference-foe Brockport for a contest beginning at 7 p.m.
