GENESEO, N.Y. – The sixth-seeded Oswego State women's soccer team (9-8-1) knocked off the No. 3 Geneseo Knights (11-5-1) on the road in the SUNYAC Championship quarterfinal contest Saturday afternoon. Oswego's SUNYAC tournament victory is the first in program history, in its 10th try at the feat since 1986. The triumph sends the Lakers on to face second-seeded Oneonta at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in the semifinal round.

Freshman Audrey Burbidge recorded her second point of the day with less than eight minutes remaining in regulation, notching the eventual game-winning goal, her fourth of the year. The goal came from a Nicole Perniciaro assist and on the heels of the host Knights knotting the equalizer less than five minutes earlier.

Oswego led the tilt for nearly 40 minutes after Alexa Restante gave the squad a late first-half lead. Burbidge acted as the distributor on the goal, finding the junior for her third tally of the season at 40:21. The Lakers took that advantage into the break and held on until the Geneseo tying goal at 77:10.

Statistics were pretty even between the two teams, with both finish with six shots-on-goal and two corner kick attempts. Oswego did hold a slight advantage in net, as junior Melissa Seigfried stopped one more shot than her counterpart, which proved to be a difference maker, registering five saves over 90 minutes.
