PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Oswego State volleyball team opened SUNYAC Pool Play, hosted by Plattsburgh, with a 3-1 (25-19, 25-17, 14-25, 25-21) loss to New Paltz on Friday evening. After the loss, the Lakers are 15-7 overall and 2-2 in league play while the Hawks improve to 12-7, 4-0.
Freshman
Ariel Murawski filled the stat sheet on Friday, leading the Lakers with 10 kills while chipping in five digs, two block assists and an ace. Also finishing with two blocks was classmate
Alison Sullivan while
Megan Russell paced Oswego with three blocks. Russell also had the squad's second-most kills with eight. Rounding out the Lakers with multiple kills on the evening were a trio with six apiece;
Emma Moriarty,
Kim Cassa and
Kelsey Dillon.
On the passing front,
Rachael Ruggaber and
Lindsey Champitto nearly split the duties evenly, recording 13 and 12 digs, respectively.
Lauren Edwards added nine digs while having a team-high 21 assists.
Oswego will complete this weekend's conference action on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. with Buffalo State and ending with a 12:30 p.m. duel with the host Cardinals.
