OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's ice hockey team fell 4-1 to Utica at the Marano Campus Center Arena on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, Oswego drops to 2-2-1 on the season and 1-1-1 in the conference. Utica remains undefeated, posting a 5-0-0 overall record (3-0-0 ECAC West).
The Lakers found themselves in a 3-0 hole early as Utica's Morgan Reed scored her third goal of a hat-trick with 10:50 still to go in the in the second period. Only 30 seconds after the Utica score, the Lakers were able to put a dent into the lead.
Alli Ullrich fired a shot that went cross bar down, but didn't cross the goal line. The puck laid loose in the crease where
Lydia Cosgrove pushed it to
Ashley Lyman for her first of the season.
After applying pressure throughout the third, Oswego couldn't find another and Utica scored on an empty net to solidify the win.
Tori Trovato got the start in net, saving 21 on the day.
Women's hockey won't have to wait long to avenge the loss as the team heads to Utica on Sunday for a 3 p.m. puck drop.
