Lakers Rout New England in Spring Break Finale

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Oswego State women's lacrosse team defeated the University of New England 19-9 at the Wide World of Sports in Florida on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, Oswego improves its overall record to .500 (3-3). New England falls to 2-4 on the year.

It was an offensive-driven day for the Lakers, as the team put up 19 goals, the most since March 18, 2013. Eight different players got in on the scoring action with five Lakers netting more than one. Erannan Shattuck had a career day, setting a new high for goals in a game with five and points with eight. Freshman Brianna Kimble also set the bar high, as she cashed in four goals and three assists. Also pitching in was Emily Lange who finished the game with three and a pair of two-goal performances from Erin Herr and Esther Gabriel. Gemma O'Kane, Kelsey Henderson and Gabrielle Thrope all nabbed one goal as well.

A major factor in the goal scoring was the dominance in draw controls, as Oswego was able to win 22 of the 30. Gabriel set a new career-high, controlling nine on the day.

Miranda Czechowski's four groundballs led all Lakers, followed closely by Angela Ponto who scooped up three.

Ponto earned the win for Oswego, recording seven saves during the contest.

Women's lacrosse will travel back to New York for its next game as it goes to SUNY Canton for a 4 p.m. start on March 25.
