Saccocio's Homer, 4 RBI Down Brockport

WINTERHAVEN, Fla. -- The Oswego Lakers dominated the Brockport Golden Eagles Friday afternoon on the campus of Polk State College, 15-1, in game one of a three-game weekend series.

Dan Saccocio got Oswego started right away with a shot over the center-fielder's head for a stand-up double. In the next at-bat, Wes Randall laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Saccocio over to third. Saccocio scored his first run of the day on a Eric Hamilton fielder's choice.

Later in the inning, Myles Kutscher doubled to center and scored Hamilton.

In the second inning, Saccocio again made his presence felt; this time with a long home run to center. The shot scored Kyle Simmons and Matt Capobianco whom both singled earlier in the frame.

Brendyn Karinchak had a strong bounce back performance. The senior went seven innings allowing just one run on seven hits to get his second win of the season. He also tallied five strikeouts while lowering his ERA to 2.70.

Jordan Giller continued the scoring for the Lakers by hammering a double in the gap to right-center field. The double drove in Kutscher and Hamilton.

Saccocio continued his outstanding day with a second double in the sixth inning to drive in Capobianco. Capobianco scored two runs and had a hit on the afternoon. Saccocio also had two singles going 5-for-5 with four RBI and three runs.

After a few wild pitches for Brockport moved over and scored Oswego runners, John Barnes came in and singled down the right-field line to drive home Robert Donnelly. Barnes also singled in the ninth inning to drive in two more.

Donnelly went 2-for-2 with two singles after pinch-hitting for Capobianco; he also had an RBI. Simmons had two base knocks and scored two runs.

Charles Arcuri and Dylan Kohlman pitched an inning apiece in the eighth and ninth innings respectively. Both allowed two hits before shutting down the rest of the batters they faced. Neither allowed a run.

Oswego will wrap up their three-game series with Brockport tomorrow. The two will play a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. at Bryant Stadium on Henley Field in Lakeland, Florida.
