ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's lacrosse team fell 9-4 to St. John Fisher College Saturday afternoon on the road. This marks the first loss of the Lakers young season, giving the team a 3-1 record. St. John Fisher moves to 4-2 on the year.
The Lakers were able to tally the first goal of the game, as
Nick Giampaolo scored at the 11:02 mark of the first. With 6:16 left in the quarter though, the Cardinals struck back and the teams ended the first period even. The second and third periods were controlled by St. John Fisher with the Cardinals recording five goals.
Troy Crevier was able to nab his third of the season, off of a
Cody Hoose assist late in the second, but Oswego still found themselves down 7-2 after three.
Oswego attempted a comeback scoring two quick ones to begin the final stanza.
Luke Krizman notched Oswego third, while
Matt Palmer scored another to bring the team within three, but the Cardinals tightened their defense and didn't allow Oswego score for the remainder of the game.
Wyatt Russo started in net for the Lakers, recording 11 saves on the day.
Men's lacrosse will return to action at 4 p.m. on Wednesday as it travels to Utica College to take on the Pioneers.
