Oswego Uses 21 Hits For Win No. 21

OSWEGO, N.Y. -- The Oswego State baseball team defeated the Fredonia Blue Devils 11-4 Friday afternoon in the first contest of their three-game weekend series. Oswego improves to 21-6 on the season and 12-2 in the SUNYAC.

The Lakers batted around in the third inning, scoring five runs, which effectively put the game out of reach. Kyle Simmons started the inning with a single to left-center before Dan Saccocio doubled down the left-field line.

Robert Donnelly's RBI double accompanied Wes Randall, Brian Hamilton and Kyle Liner as they each recorded RBI base-hits in the inning.

The bats kept producing in the fourth inning when Saccocio started it up with another single. Oswego scored four more runs in the fourth inning starting with an Eric Hamilton sacrifice fly. Myles Kutscher and Jordan Giller both earned extra-base hits and drove in an RBI. Liner tallied an RBI single of his own in the inning.

Brendyn Karinchak manned the mound for five innings in this contest, striking out seven Fredonia batters. He walked one and allowed just one earned in his sixth win of the season.

Six Oswego batters: Saccocio, Randall, Simmons, Kutscher, Liner and Eric Hamilton all finished the game with multiple hits. The first three had three, two and two runs scored respectively.

Kutscher and Saccocio both had an RBI single in the game. The Lakers finished with a season-high 21 hits.
