OSWEGO, N.Y. – In the last game to ever be played at the South Athletic Field, the Oswego State men's lacrosse team defeated Geneseo 8-6 Saturday afternoon on Senior Day. With the win Oswego has concluded its season, ending with a 7-7 overall record and 1-5 in the SUNYAC. Geneseo completes its year going 5-9 on the year, 1-5 in the conference.
After giving up two early goals, Oswego found its footing.
Troy Crevier scored first for the Lakers after he won the faceoff, scooped the groundball and scored all in a matter of seconds.
Cody Hoose then tied it up with 23 seconds left, netting it on a
Teddy Phillips feed. The second quarter would match the first as the Knights scored two early followed by two Oswego goals.
The Lakers were able to flip the script after intermission as senior
Nick Giampaolo scored one at the 13:19 mark and then again three minutes later. Geneseo would put one in before the quarter ended but the Lakers carried a one goal lead into the final stanza. In the fourth,
Tyler Nason would find the back of the net off a
Matt Palmer pass. The Knights would score one, but Giampaolo beat the goalie again with 59 seconds left in regulation to seal the victory.
Giampaolo would finish with a three goals on the day, followed closely by Nason and Hoose who both finished with two.
Wyatt Russo minded the net for Oswego, making 16 saves on the day.
