FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's soccer team falls 2-1 to Penn State Behrend in the final game of the Fredonia Tournament on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Lakers drop to 3-2 on the season. Behrend improves to 2-3.
A defensive first half led to a 0-0 tie going into the break, but it was Oswego who finally broke the stalemate at the 56:32 mark.
Nicole Perniciaro received a pass from
Bailey Waterbury at the top of the 18-yard box. The junior then turned towards net, booting the ball pass the Lions keeper. The Lakers would let up two goals in the remaining minutes of the half though, eventually falling 2-1.
Melissa Siegfried started in goal for Oswego, racking up a total of five saves through 90 minutes.
At the conclusion of the tournament, three Oswego players were represented on the All-Tournament Team including
Emma Geyer,
Bailey Waterbury and
Mary Morrison.
Women's soccer returns to the field at 7 p.m. on Tuesday as it heads to Buffalo to take on D'Youville College.
