Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lakers Earn First Win Blanking Bobcats

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's soccer team captured its first win of the season, defeating the University of Pittsburgh-Greenburg 3-0 at Laker Soccer Field Friday afternoon. With the win, Oswego improves to .500 (1-1) on the season. The Bobcats move to 0-1 this year.

From the first whistle, Oswego was in control of the entire game. Recording five shots on goal in the first twenty minutes, the Lakers finally beat the keeper on a corner kick play at 21:22. Audrey Burbidge swung a corner towards the near post where Emma Geyer used her hip to knock it past the goalie. The Lakers weren't finished there, as just ten minutes later Sarah Grupp put a through ball in towards the middle for Nicole Perniciaro. The pass put her one-on-one with the Bobcats keeper, where she calmly placed the ball into the low corner into the net.

Taking a 2-0 lead into the second half, Oswego was able to add one more before the final whistle. Grupp found herself in perfect position as a rolling ball came out to the top of the 18-yard box. The sophomore lined up and fired a shot that beat Pitt-Greensburg's Shannon Edwards to the top right corner.

The Lakers finished the game with 24 shots on goal, 16 of which were on target.

Alyssa Glasshagel accumulated two saves, earning both her, and the team's, first shutout of the season.

Women's soccer returns to the pitch at 1 p.m. on Saturday as it hosts Desales University at Laker Soccer Field.
