OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's soccer team won their second-straight game at home, defeating the DeSales Bulldogs 1-0, Saturday afternoon at Laker Soccer Field. With the win, Oswego improves to 2-1 on the year, while the Bulldogs drop to 2-1.
After a stalemate first half where neither team scored, Oswego was the first to tally a goal, which came with just 5:46 remaining in the game.
Audrey Burbidge swung a corner kick, one of Oswego's eight for the game, to the middle of the box, where
Sarah Grupp flicked it with her head to the far post.
Mary Morrison followed through with her right foot to net the ball for the Lakers.
Oswego locked in its defense over the remaining five minutes helping it notch the 1-0 victory.
The Lakers finished with five shots on goal compared to just one for the Bulldogs.
Melissa Siegfried played the entire game in goal for the Lakers, stopping the one DeSales chance.
Women's soccer will head to the Buffalo area for the Fredonia Tournament starting at 1 p.m. on Friday where it will face off against Grove City College.
