Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Lakers Down Mustangs for Second Straight Day

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's ice hockey team made it two wins against host Morrisville State College in as many days with Wednesday's 6-1 rout. Oswego's triumph improves its overall record to 9-3-3 while the Mustangs, in their inaugural season, fall to 5-10-2.

Scoring started slow for the Lakers before notching goals in bunches. Andrea Noss got the team on the board first with a power-play goal at 16:46. Following the intermission, the Lakers were right back at it, as Alexa Aramburu tallied her first of two goals on the night at just 1:48 of the middle period.

Less than 20 seconds later, Sarah Grupp recorded her first goal of the year off a pass from Jayme McCreary. Five minutes after Grupp's goal, Laura Thacker followed in her teammate's footsteps, registering her first goal of the 2015-16 campaign. Lizzy Marks was credited for an assist as Oswego made it 4-0.

The Mustangs would find a way to score at 13:29 of the second and the 4-1 Laker advantage held heading into the final intermission.

Aramburu wasted no time extending Oswego's lead in the third, lighting the lamp just 51 seconds into the period. At 9:04, Bailee Goodon became the third Laker in the game to score their first goal of the year, as Brennan Butler found her teammate for the squad's sixth and final point.

Aramburu and Olivia Ellis paced Oswego with three points apiece, with Ellis' all coming on assists. Noss also had a multiple-point night, recording a helper on Aramburu's second goal. Alli Ullrich also had an assist on that same goal.

Tori Trovato made it two-straight wins in net on Wednesday, as the senior made 22 saves in her fifth victory of the year.

Oswego will return to the ice when No. 1 Plattsburgh comes to the Marano Campus Center Arena for a pair of games, each starting at 3 p.m., on Saturday and Sunday.
