OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State wrestling team fell 31-16 to Brockport Wednesday evening at Max Ziel Gymnasium. The Lakers go to 3-9 in dual meets while the Golden Eagles improve to 2-0.
Six of Oswego's points came from
Tyler Silverthorn at the 157-pound weight class as he defeated Brockport's Xavier Thomas by fall at the 5:55 mark. Silverthorn controlled the entire match, racking up numerous take downs before eventually securing the pin.
Troy Seymour recorded another four points for Oswego as he won at the 174-pound division by major decision (10-1). Seymour accumulated over three minutes of riding time to earn the extra point at the end.
Daniel Smith collected the final six points as he took 197 by forfeit.
Wrestling will return to action at 12 p.m. on Saturday when the team travels to Oneonta to take on the Red Dragons.
