RESULTSOSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's swimming and diving team cruised to its seventh win of the year 166-107 over Potsdam on Saturday afternoon in Laker Pool. Before the meet, the Lakers thanked their five seniors for Senior Day:
Zach Gerber,
Dylan Tiefenthaler,
Austin Nau,
Sanjay Raman and
John Miller. Oswego is now 7-3 on the year.
Sophomore
Luke Snyder highlighted the meet with his second qualifying score of the season, earning him a spot in the NCAA Regional event. On Saturday, Snyder captured wins in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives, grabbing 18 points combined for Oswego.
Two Lakers won a pair of events against the Bears, starting with Gerber. In event seven of the day, Gerber collected first in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 59.63. Just 10 events later, the senior gained another top time, taking the 100-yard freestyle by less than a second.
Junior
Devon Foster joined Gerber with a multiple-win day, earning victories in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.44) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:10.69).
Four others swam to triumphs in the meet, beginning with Tiefenthaler's nearly two-second victory in the 100-yard backstroke. Next was Nau's 50-yard free win, touching the wall in 22.54. Jacob Mullet was primed to grab nine points for Oswego when he beat out teammate
Nathan Taylor in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:21.09. The final individual to claim first for the Lakers was
James Dillon, who downed his Potsdam counterpart in the 500-yard free.
Capping the special day was a quartet of seniors winning event 31, the 200-yard freestyle relay. Gerber, Raman, Tiefenthaler and Miller combined for a time of 1:31.82, holding off their opponent by less than a second.
Oswego will hit the road for its final regular season event of the year, traveling to the Geneseo Invite at 12 p.m. next Saturday.
