BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's ice hockey was handed its second-straight loss from Buffalo State this weekend, falling 2-0 Saturday afternoon at the Buffalo State Ice Arena. With the loss the Lakers move to 9-7-3 overall and 5-6-3 in the ECAC West. The Bengals improve to 15-4-0 on the season and 9-3-0 in the conference.
It seemed as if Oswego was controlling the first period as the Lakers outshot the Bengals 12-7, but Buffalo State got on the board 11:10 into the stanza. The Bengals would tack on another right before the intermission as well to take a two-goal lead into the locker room. Oswego would battle tough through the next two periods, firing 15 more shots on net, but to no avail as the Bengals sealed the 2-0 victory.
After allowing the two first period goals, Laker netminder
Tori Trovato stood tall blocking 22 Buffalo State shot attempts.
Andrea Noss was a key factor in the face off dot, claiming half (13-of-26) of Oswego's wins. The Lakers held a slight edge over the Bengals, controlling 26 of the 51 taken.
Women's ice hockey will return to action with a home-and-home series with William Smith beginning at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Marano Campus Center Arena.
