WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – On day one of the Budd Whitehill Duals hosted by Lycoming College, the Oswego State wrestling team went 1-2, claiming victory over Ohio Northern College in the squad's second meet.

In the first bout against No.6 Messiah College, Oswego fell 35-10. Troy Seymour put up an impressive win though, beating seventh-ranked Derek Heitz by a 10-1 major decision at the 174-pound weight class. The Lakers other six came from a pair of 3-2 decisions won at the 165-lbs division by Mark Milisci and then later at 197 by Daniel Smith.

The Lakers bounced back in their second meet of the day, defeating Ohio Northern University 22-18. Oswego got off to a quick start as its first three wrestlers all earned points. James Ronca collected five points with an 18-3 technical fall at 133-pounds while Jacob Yankloski and Jonathan Ptacek each recorded three points with 5-2 and 6-2 decisions, respectively. Seymour scored big points at 174 winning by fall at 2:16 while Smith won again at 197, this time with an 18-1 technical fall.

To end the day, the Lakers took a 28-15 loss to Olivet College. Tyler Silverthorn (157) and Sean Maloney (184) both earned their first points of the day, each winning by fall, Silverthorn at 3:39 and Maloney 5:52. Seymour finished up with a perfect 3-0 on day one, recording a 5-1 decision victory over Olivet's Nicholas Affricano.

Wrestling will pick up action on Saturday with its opponents and times to be determined at the conclusion of the first day of tournament.
