GENESEO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's soccer team held a lead within the first 10 minutes of the contest, but it would not last as host Geneseo scored once in each half to earn a 2-1 victory on Saturday afternoon. Oswego is now 4-11-0 overall and 1-7-0 in the conference while the Knights are 8-5-2, 4-2-0.
Sophomore
Jason Siracuse claimed the first tally of the tilt at 8:53 when he peppered Geneseo's goalie with back-to-back attempts. After his first chance was saved, Siracuse headed the rebound past the keeper for a 1-0 Laker advantage.
A penalty-kick goal by Geneseo at 28:02 would even the game at it would stay knotted at 1-1 through halftime. The eventual game-winner came from the Knights in the 64th minute, when a failed Laker clear resulted in a loose-ball goal by Ethan Gunty.
Following a career-day in a win over Brockport on Friday, Oswego goalie
Evan Bogucki had another stellar outing. The freshman made seven saves over the 90 minutes, his second-most in a single game, trailing only his 13 stops against the Golden Eagles the previous day.
Oswego will finish SUNYAC action in its next game, when the Lakers travel to Cortland to take on the Red Dragons at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
