SUNYAC CHAMPIONSHIP BRACKET
FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Oswego State volleyball team split its final two conference matches of the regular season, earning the sixth seed in the SUNYAC Championship. Oswego opened the day with an easy 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-11) win over Potsdam which clinched its postseason berth. Later, the Lakers were downed by the host Blue Devils of Fredonia 3-1 (17-25, 20-25, 25-21, 15-25). Oswego is now 14-13 overall and finish 5-4 in conference action.
On the day, sophomore
Ariel Murawski led all Laker hitters with 18 kills. In the victory over Potsdam, senior
Meaghan Roefs tied Murawski's match-high, each finishing with eight kills.
Combining for setting duties on the day were the tandem of
Lauren Edwards and
Lindsey Champitto, tallying 33 and 30 assists, respectively. Passing to the setters was paced by
Jessica Long's 15 digs, while
Rina Qelaj (15) and
Emma Moriarty (18) combined for 33.
On defense,
Megan Russell led the way with seven blocks while
Alison Sullivan had six. Sullivan's were a balanced three in each match while Russell sent back six in the Fredonia match alone on three solos and three assists.
The sixth-seeded Lakers will travel to No. 3 New Paltz on Tuesday, Nov. 1 for a 6 p.m. first round matchup. Brockport – the league's No. 1 seed – will host the semifinal and final rounds that weekend.
