OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's soccer team dropped a nonconference contest to the Hamilton College Continentals, 1-0 on Tuesday afternoon. With the loss the Lakers end the regular season at 7-5-4 and the Continentals improve to 5-7-3.
Most of the contest was decided on the defensive side of the field with neither team breaking the 0-0 deadlock throughout the first 50-plus minutes. Hamilton's lone goal came in the 51
st minute when an opposing player sent the ball off the bottom section of the crossbar causing it to fall in the goal behind the keeper.
Melissa Siegfried recorded two saves and tallied all 90 minutes in goal.
Oswego took seven shots throughout this contest, with three of them coming on-target.
Alexa Restante used fancy footwork to fool the defender to get a chance, however, Hamilton regrouped to force pressure, which led to a save.
Emma Geyer also took one of the Laker shots-on-goal, which just missed going in. Again, a Continental defender put pressure on Geyer forcing her to limit the power on her kick.
Mary Morrison had the final shot-on-goal, which was easily scooped up by the Hamilton goalie.
The fifth-seeded Lakers will return to the pitch at 1 p.m. on Saturday, as they travel to face No. 4 Plattsburgh in the first round of the SUNYAC Championship. See the full bracket
