BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's soccer team was held scoreless in a 2-0 loss at Buffalo State on Friday afternoon. Oswego is now 4-4-3 overall and 1-3-1 in conference play while the Bengals – who sit atop the SUNYAC standings – improve to 9-1-2, 4-0-0.
Bengal Tianna Hatch recorded both of her team's goals, each coming in the second half and on penalty kicks. After more than 55 minutes knotted at 0-0, Hatch put Buffalo State on the board off her own penalty-kick rebounds.
Melissa Siegfried stopped the one-on-one attempt and the Laker defense came up with a team save on Hatch's second try. The third rebound in the chaos in front of the net gave Hatch a tally and Buffalo State a 1-0 edge.
Hatch put the game out of reach late when she was awarded a penalty-kick at 87:07 and finished on the first opportunity.
Siegfried made five saves in the loss for the Lakers, with the defense also coming up with the aforementioned team save.
On offense,
Audrey Burbidge,
Emma Geyer,
Sarah Grupp,
Mary Morrison and
Hannah Almy each registered a shot, with the Almy and Geyer attempts coming on-goal.
Oswego will try to hop back into the win column at 1 p.m. on Saturday when it faces Fredonia on the road.
