OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's basketball team dropped its first conference game to the Cortland Red Dragons 50-43 on Saturday evening. Oswego falls to 1-5 and 0-1 on the year, while Cortland improves to 2-3 and 1-0.
Oswego started off the game on a 9-2 run due to back-to-back-to-back 3-pointers.
Courtney Ameele hit the first two triples, before
Heather Hebert capped the run. Hebert would finish the game as the leading scorer on both sides by tallying 18 points. She would also pull down nine boards.
The Lakers battled to a halftime lead of 21-19 by forcing 16 opposing turnovers, but were eventually undone by a poor shooting night. Oswego managed just to make 23.2 percent of its shots from the field. However, the team hung tough until late in the fourth quarter.

Alison Nunziato (8) and Ameele (6) helped on the offensive end by notching 22 points.
