OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's basketball team defeated the Fredonia Blue Devils 70-64 on Friday evening. Oswego improves to 6-3 with the victory, while hopping above .500 at 2-1 in the SUNYAC. Fredonia falls to 3-5 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
Oswego was led by a tremendous effort on the parts of
Brian Sortino and
Mykelle Krecko. The seniors combined for 42 points on 15-for-28 (53.6 %) shooting. With the game hanging in the balance late, Sortino tallied six of his 26 points by driving for a layup and then hitting four clutch free throws.

In the closing minutes of the second half, the Lakers were also led by clutch shots from
Jamir Ferebee and
Keith Tyson. Ferebee proved to be illusive, finding ways to the rim a couple of times, while the Syracuse, N.Y. native turned in near identical step-back jumpers. Ferebee (5) and Tyson (6) recorded 11 points in the later stanza on 3-for-6 shooting. The duo completed the contest with 10 and 7 points, respectively.

Men's basketball returns at 2 p.m. on Saturday for a SUNYAC game against the Bengals of Buffalo State.
