OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's ice hockey team played Williams College to a 3-3 draw at the Marano Campus Center Arena Friday night. With the tie, Oswego moves to 10-8-4 on the year, while the Ephs sit at 12-8-1.
It took just 40 seconds for the Lakers to take the lead as
Ashley Lyman collected her third of the year. The play began as
Olivia Ellis fed the puck to Lyman down beneath the goal. The Lockport, N.Y. native faked the wrap around and instead came back to the near post to jam the puck in. The Ephs finished the period with two goals for themselves though and skated into the locker room with the one goal lead.
Brianna Rice had notched the only goal for either team in the second stanza. The forward stole the puck at the blue line as the Ephs tried to clear it. She quickly ripped a wrister top shelf, glove side beating the netminder and evening up the score at 2-2.
After Williams netted a goal 5:15 into the final stanza, the Lakers found themselves down one until they earned their second power play of the game at the 9:30 mark. Up a skater, Oswego won the ensuing face off and Ellis found
Alli Ullrich near the blue line. The defensemen then rifled a shot through traffic that made it past William's Margaret Draper just 10 seconds into the man advantage. The score would remain tied through the rest of the period and continue to stay even during the extra five minutes.
Tori Trovato got the nod in net, stopping 47 Eph shots and eclipsing her career-high saves in a game by nine.
Women's ice hockey will return to action at 3 p.m. on Saturday finishing its home-and-home series with Williams at the Marano Campus Center Arena.
